BUY A BRICK PROGRAM

 

We are raising money to help fund the Pine Grove Commemorative Walkway of Honors and Memorials.  The bricks will be placed in the area that is presently known as The Pine Grove Memorial Gardens.  The proceeds will be used to support the creation of the Pine Grove Foundation and the Commemorative Walkway. The Foundation will support the Telicious Kenly Boyd Scholarship Fund and other community endeavors.

Donating a brick cost:

 

$100 Red Border Bricks

$150 White Cross Brick (limited quantity)

$500 Engraved Park Bench (limited quantity)

The Pine Grove Sons of Allen are inviting all young men ages 10-18 to participate in their 2012 Mentoring Program. The program will start at 9:00 am Saturday, February 25, 2012 and conclude on Saturday April 28, 2012. There will be 3 monthly sessions that will cover the following topics:

1)       Careers

2)       Understanding Money

3)       Etiquette and Public Speaking

4)       Goal Setting

5)       Study Skills

6)       Peer Pressure

7)       Diet and Exercise

If you are interested in participating in this program, please complete a permission slip located in the church vestibule. Participants in the mentoring program will become eligible to take a group trip during the month of May; more details to follow. The South Carolina Black Male Summit 2012, Closing The Achievement Gap: "Cutting the Pipeline to Prison" will be on Sunday Feb. 19, 2012 2:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Columbia, SC. The Oratorical Essay Contest Topic this year will be, African Methodist Episcopal Youth: Leaning and Depending on God in Perilous Times. The background scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV; please study the background scripture and relate your content to the life and ministry of Bishop Richard Allen and the History of the AME Church. All graduating seniors are encouraged to enter; Essay should be a minimum of three minutes and no longer than eight minutes. For more information please contact Mrs. Johnnie Patterson.

 

Benedict College will hold its annual Harambe Festival on Saturday February 25, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at 1600 Harden St. in the basement of Mather Hall. They will be offering FREE Prostate Cancer and Diabetes Screenings.

 

The Taekwondo Class, under the direction of Mrs. Brenda McGriff, is inviting you to their Black History Program and Dinner at the Pine Grove Community Center, 937 Piney Woods Rd, Wednesday, February 29 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. You will also get to tour the Rosenwald School.

The Pine Grove WMS present "Girls Growing in Grace--Coming of Age", they are inviting all young ladies ages 10-18 to participate in this Mentoring Program. In the next three months they will attend workshops to include:

 

1.     Developing Self-Esteem

2.     Finance/Budgeting and Facebook/Bullying

3.     Developing you Spiritual Self and Fun activities

4.     Grand Finale Outing Celebration
